I have written a lot about projects using adhesive foil over the years, and I am finally writing the ultimate guide to how to use it. I got a lot of questions about how to use it, but since I weave it into every other project I do, I thought I had a general contribution that gives a good idea of how it is being used.

I will explain how to use it in a variety of different ways and then give you the best vinyl for each purpose for your project. So depending on the material you place your panel on, there are a variety of different types of panels that you need for each project. Although you can follow this guide to choose the type of adhesive film that fits your craft projects, it is advisable to start with removable vinyl, especially for initial projects. If you are using good vinyl for a project you are working on, you need a good adhesive film and a little research to make sure we get the vinyl.

Here is an example of how we used adhesive foil to make a water bottle decal, take a look at it and get inspired by the many different things that can be easily done with the warm-up vinyl glue. 

Cut the tape and use the transfer tape to transfer the design to the side of the water bottle, print the side - at the top and cut out a small piece of paper with the same design on it. Cut out two adhesive films, one side up and the other down, and print on both sides as much as possible. 

Place the vinyl in the desired position and press it really well into your project, then carefully peel off the transfer tape, leave it on the project and position it in the desired location.

Since adhesive films can be used on many surfaces, it is crucial to find the right adhesive for the application, otherwise the vinyl will not stick properly. Glue is the one you find on permanent vinyl because it is easy to remove if you make a mistake. If you have never done a project with adhesive films, you may have noticed that some vinyl films stick to what is called release liners. This is a glue liner similar to the Cricut but in a different shape. When you cut the vinyl adhesives from your CICUT, place it on a mat with its vinyl on the mat at the side and press it down. 

The most important thing to consider when choosing an adhesive for your project is the type of adhesive. There are two types of adhesive films and you will want to make sure you use the right type for the project. Temporary, often referred to as matte, is far less sticky and is ideal for indoor walls and other areas where vinyl is intended only for temporary decoration. You need something that can withstand sun, water and a lot of handling, you need a removable adhesive and where you do not want any damage during removal.
